Hi!
I’m writing a video plugin for the swedish site http://svtplay.se
I’ve created a xml file in the SiteConfigurations bunlde, and return a WebVideoItem from my python handler.
However when accessing the plugin from Plex I can only hear the audio, there is no video.
Python code:
[codebox]
from PMS import Plugin, Log, DB, Thread, XML, HTTP, JSON, RSS, Utils
from PMS.MediaXML import MediaContainer, DirectoryItem, WebVideoItem
from PMS.Shorthand import _L, _R, _E, _D
PLUGIN_PREFIX = “/video/SVTPlay”
URL = “http://svtplay.se/v/1459920/hype/26_2 ”
def Start():
Plugin.AddRequestHandler(PLUGIN_PREFIX, HandleSvtPlayRequest, “SVT Play”, “icon-default.png”, “art-default.jpg”)
def HandleSvtPlayRequest(pathNouns, depth):
dir = MediaContainer(“art-default.jpg”, None, “SVT Play”)
dir.AppendItem(WebVideoItem(URL,“Title”,“Summary”,“1000000”,“icon-default.png”))
return dir.ToXML()
[/codebox]
Site config:
[codebox]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
[/codebox]
Not sure why this happens, but I my guess it that it has something to do with the site config.
One weird thing: if I save the contents of the clip above to my hard drive (using “save page as…” i FF)
and modify the script and site config accordingly (using file:/// urls), everything works just fine, there’s both audio and video.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated, I’m really stuck here.

I second the request - I’m running into the same problem while playing around with pitchfork.tv and collegehumor.com .
I’m pretty it has to do with plugin in the XML file, but nothing I try works.
Thanks!
Wow you’ve done a great job so far, the site config is CORRECT! You can test the site config file by creating a text document with the extension .strm and putting the following in:
plex://localhost/video/:/webkit?url=http://svtplay.se/t/102939/hype
You can do this for any URL, just replace everything after url= with the URL to the page with the player on it. Once you save this file (I called it svtplay.strm) you can browse to it in plex and try playing the item. In my case i had no problem playing the video, pausing the video, etc. The only thing broken is the seek bar and seeking which is trivial once you get everything working.
Sorry my mistake, we found the issue, it’s on the plex side. We should have a fix in the next version that will help.
Thanks a lot for taking time to look into this. Looking forward to the next version then
Did the fix make it into the 0.7.12 release? I’ve just upgraded but it didn’t seem to help.

No, sorry - 0.7.12 was a quick release to fix new problems with some sites we already had plug-ins for. The problem here is that the SVTPlay site has two identical Flash players, and we’re having trouble finding a way of identifying the right one. We’re not giving up though
No worries, keep up the good work!
I really appriciate Isaac’s advice on creating a .strm file above.
I have created such a file, but I can’t figure out how to open it from Plex.
Should i put it in any special location?
Please disregard my last question, I just figured it out. I added my hard drive as a source under “videos” and voila!
Still just audio and no video though. I had some hopes that this .strm business wouldn’t have the same problems as the plug-in,
so that I could use it for testing

We’re trying to figure out how to lock onto that SWF. It looks like there are two (nested?) SWFs on the page in some apparent abomination of HTML.

Hi,
sorry for reopening this old thread. Was this issue resolved/fixed? I'm seeing the same behaviour like the OP posted (sound, no video) on videoportal.sf.tv with the current (0.8.5) Plex.

Christian

Are you sure it isn't just your Flash plugin version in Safari that is wrong? You can't use 10.1, downgrade to 10.0.X and you should be dandy :)

Ah, ok. But what is that URL you are posting? Is there actually a plugin playing videos from that site?

The current version is here: http://github.com/chhitz/sfPlexPlugin
(The version in the AppStore does not work right now, because the site was slightly changed.)
