Fixed it thanks, odd that some mkv files play fine as do avi files but the latter stress my server, so avoid that. thanks again.

I am sure you know all this, but it did successfully play some avi files last night, very well in fact, at first the cpu load is high but then it settles down to under 50%,(This was on a ds 1817+) I also improved the audio by disabling subtitles so I suspect its may be “seacrhing” the audio in some way. It did not remove the breaking up of the audio but certainly improved it by 50%. I completely take on board your MP4 advice. I have used TMPG version 6 for many years.
Thansk very much

Is that skipping audio AAC?

Load the Roku Preview channel for the fix:

Of course, the chances an AVI file will Direct Play on a Roku are:
Slim
and
None
so the ‘Fix’ is probably irrelevant for AVIs.

If you have other file types that do Direct Play and have AAC audio - the Fix is the Fix.
