I have a Samsung Q70T TV with eArc. I have a Nvidia Shield Pro with all of my media stored on an external hard drive. On my Shield is the Plex app. I’m not always able to get Dolby Atmos while streaming my 4k 7.1 movies. While playing, the audio will often cut out. I have both my TV and Plex set to Passthrough. Regardless, the audio continues to cut out and from my app, I can see that Dolby Atmos goes off. With the same set up, all of media plays exceptionally well, in Dolby Atmos using Kodi. There’s never a hiccup. So, I’m confident that the issue is Plex. I just can’t figure out the correct setting.
Please any suggestions will really help.
Open Plex app settings. Look on bottom right side of screen. Also listed in Authorized Devices, https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/devices/android.
Have you installed the Nvidia Shield Experience 8.2, released in August? It has a fix for TrueHD / TrueHD + Atmos audio dropouts. Release Notes.
Look in Shield Settings → Device Preferences → About → Shield Android TV SW Version. August release is 8.2 (32.6.435.1).
What audio equipment is connected to the TV via eARC - soundbar, receiver, etc.?
Curiosity question: Any issues with eARC or was it pretty much plug and play? My TV & receiver do not support eARC. Just wondering how well it works, any setup issues, etc.
