(This feature is available on roku so maybe this is already requested by someone if so i apologize.)
So i saw that the Roku has a feature that allows you to connect headphones to a remote so the sound on the TV will be playing through the headphones.
So is there a possibility to make a button that when you activate it the media server sends the video to the TV and the sound to a phone or a tablet that you are using the plex remote on?
That way we can watch on a big screen without for example wake anyone late at night.
this could only really work on local wifi, and it would have to transcode/remux it to make it work. Even then you'd have to add some sort of timing heartbeat to the whole setup to keep the audio/video in sync.
:\
I was going to suggest this feature too until I found this thread. I think this idea is really awesome and we could finally use our headphones without a 10 m cable.
Maybe this is an inspiration for implementation:
For anyone on a Mac or Windows you can accomplish this with Airfoil. Obviously this is limited to those running PHT on a Mac/PC and wanting to send the audio to their phone/tablet and has a limited use case as apposed to the feature request... but just FYI in case anyone finds it handy.
Yes this request seems very similar to https://forums.plex.tv/topic/74937-%E2%80%98tandem-playback%E2%80%99-to-several-clients/ and likely will have very similar solutions. I am not going to merge the 2 because they seem different enough to keep them apart, but please vote on both :)
