Count me in!
+1 to having an option for a particular collection to remember last position.

Resume would be fantastic!
+1 for me... I really want a official support for audio books complete with a separate section and special handling for them.
I have been kicking the idea of a audiobook manager for while now. I don't know why I never noticed Plex as the perfect platform for it. If someone builds this It would make me a happy guy.
Feature ideas for an Audiobook library.
-
Book queue
-
based on user account
-
subscribe mobile devices to the queue
-
sync based on free space, play time remaining or some mix of the two.
-
partial file support. brake books into 50 MB blocks so you dont have to download the entire book at once, i.e Atlas Shrugged
-
prefer wifi but have a “low water” threshold that would use cell data
-
-
-
option to auto add new books to queue
-
-
remember recent stop points
-
sync to server for book and user
-
sync to other mobiles
-
long term saving as book marks
-
points should be time stamped
-
save last 2 days or 20 points, whichever is longer
-
-
Series support
-
and sub series
-
and sub sub series i.e Honor Harrington series
-
-
-
Pause role back. slowly rewinds the book while paused up to 20 seconds
-
Sleep timer
-
reset sleep based on motion for mobiles
-
some facts about my usage to help understand my ideas or provide use case.
-
I listen to book whenever I have “dead time”, time that I don't need to think that much. i.e cooking, cleaning, low traffic driving, exercise...
-
I also travel a fair bit in the summers in areas without cellular data or wifi for 2 - 9 hours at a time.
-
I have had an Audible account for a few years and have about 110 GB of books
-
books average to .6 GB ish
-
Audible files do not natively work in Plex
-
-
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand is 2.4GB It came in 8 files but now Audible has started letting you download books as one file. one 2.4 GB file could be too big for some devices.
+1 on this feature. Would definitely love it. I already use Plex mostly for audiobooks anyways. Additional support would be awesome.
I found something awesome with the plexpass android sync function tonight.
You can use mortplayer audiobooks to play the synced audiobooks, and mortplayer has the best audiobook functions I've ever found.
Mortplayer lets you set your file location, so you can set it to the same location as your syncing folder and it will find the audiobooks that you sync. I used the highest quality so the transcoder doesn't play with my id3 tags.
I have it set up like this:
My audiobooks have all been consolidated into single files, I don't really care if they are 2gb each or what, that makes it much easier to sync them.
I set my sync location to /sdcard/media and I have the id3 tags set properly for my audiobooks, I also set mortplayer to use /sdcard/media, after sync it runs through all the subfolders and uses the id3 tags to decide what to list the found audiobooks as and I'm ready to go!
OH PLEASE!
Would happily, happily upgrade to or pay for this feature.
Can we make a collection.
I am a complete Audiobook geek and am gettings started with plex and this feature would make it SOOOOO much more useful for me.
Thanks!
+1 from me too! I thought it was just me getting annoyed by this lack of support.
Thanks and fingers crossed from a lifetime member....
+1 from me too. I would love to be able to index my audio books properly and being able to resume at any time.
This...Yes Please!

I agree, Plex Developers please add this feature. This would be the best incentive for me to get a PLEX PASS immediately.
I would like plex to have some audiobook related features too. And I already have a plexpass.
Oh please… I need this feature. Is very annoying if you pause your audiobook to play a music album or a movie and need to search again for the part where you left the audiobook every time. Please make it remember the position as a bookmark. Thank you for your work every time.
Also SUBFOLDERS for the personal media. please!!!
The most missing feature for me is the audiobook support. I use my Android phone as client and it would be nice to listen audiobooks. But the absence of resume is showbreaker....
I would have to say I am in on this feature, I am about to try to adapt my MP3 Tags on my Audiobooks and thinking something like the following. Even if we just copy the music section and change the following labels on the fields for the media it would be at least a start...
Artist - Narrator if Known or Author [Author of Book or Narrator of audio if specified]
Album Artist [Author of Book if Artist used for Narrator]
Track - Chapter
Title - Title of Chapter if book has them or generic Chapter XX if none
Release Date - Publish Date
Copyright - same
DB ID [ID of metadata or link if scraping DB is found]
I thought the music section had resume support [I have not used it exstensively to date either through the web interface or a client to verify if this is available or not so excuse me if I got that wrong, if not present it would be AWWESOME to have].
I wish I had time to sit down and tear apart the code behind a section learn it and try this myself for at least just the label changes which should not be difficult, if I get time I will see if this may be possible.
+1 from me !!
including a proper support of m4b files !
+1 and please support m4b files!
