So I recently discovered that my system is not capable of doing VC-1 transcodes to much lower bitrates…
What automation or tool sets are you guys using to automate the VC-1 conversions? I have over 200 VC-1 files…
Thanks!

This is an ongoing thread. It should be of help to you.
@ChuckPa Thanks for the link… It looks like you had some involvement nice work…
How about something that runs in Windows, has a GUI and requires me to do no work what so ever
Tested handbrake huge pain in the ass, looks like Plex expects you to use the optimize feature. But unfortunately doesn’t give you the library filters to optimize efficiently. IE by codec so I could select VC1’s only…

Sorry, I don’t do windows. I have a cleaning service that comes in from time to time and handles the outsides for me.

honestly, I’m not sure if that can be done on Windows 10 in the Linux subsystem yet. Looking at that (Linux subsystem) it has the complete feel of Ubuntu and a normal shell but there is still a lot missing at this point in time. I’ve not had extensive time with it.
As an alternative, I do know you can install “Cygwin” and install any of the shells available. Cygwin is a port of Linux tools to windows through a Linux-Windows interface DLL. It’s really fast too. I actually compile my programs on Linux and copy the files to Windows. They run just fine if the DLL is present (copy that with the exe and drop it in. no install required) . ![]()
@cayars has some scripts he wrote that can handle this conversion very easily. You can find a link to it in a post I have in my signature that links to his post… (convoluted I know, but if you want to get it, go for it.)
No gui, just drop the files into a folder, kick off the script, come back and drop the converted files into your library. Painless…
