Since Movies that are in collections are often labeled that way Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th-Oh them Bones Part 99 (lol), etc., why can’t Plex auto detect and place movies in collections if ticked off as an option in the settings? As it is now, if something happens to your library and you have to delete and reinstall it, you have to go back in and add them back in. Also, edited metadata for the movie/tv show you manually enter is gone if something happens to a library or drive that needs to be reinstalled. It would be a huge help if the metadata could include user added information embedded in the file stored on the server. One last thing is metadata preset by others pulls in on reinstall versus what has been edited is extremely exasperating. In particular if they have the metadata set to a collection for a movie with no others in it’s collection and you end up with everything in collections in your menu. This happens a lot in particular if you select to hide films in collections.
Early 2021 clean-up:
- implemented (collections, automatic collection creation)
- writing metadata from Plex into files (rejected)
Add METADATA EDITOR like Emby
