Auto skip intro/credit/play next for Windows player

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522
Player Version#: 1.108.1.307-dd5b87aa

As of today, 7th May 2025, auto skip intro/credit and reducing of play next timer from 10 seconds to immediate is still not supported on Plex for Windows. This is one of the main reason I picked up plex pass for. I would like to hear from the staff when support would be added for Plex for Windows, thank you.

Please do not tell me to use Plex HTPC! The UI is not suitable for desktop usage and it was kind of buggy when I tried it.

me too. exact same expectations.

honestly its shocking that i paid all that money pretty much for this one feature and it’s not even automatic on desktop, which is literally the only platform i use plex on. and credit skipping doesn’t even seem to be a thing; but that’s what the next episode button is for… but again automatic please…

Uh huh. I made a post there on March 23, which haven’t got any update/reply. Figured I would try my luck to start a new thread and hopefully will be seen by the staff. Is this currently worked on or at least on the roadmap for future updates?

This is why I purchased the plex pass too. What utter bullsh*t

Was there ever any official response from the staff on why this isn’t implemented yet? As far as I can observed, the heavy lifting of analyzing the intro/credits is already (mostly) working, manual activation of skipping is working, automated skipping is working on other platforms. It feels more like this is an intentional decision to NOT implement it on Plex for Windows rather than a technical difficulty..

come on, get it done. we ain’t gonna let this one slip. feature parity on all platforms really in a minimum requirement, especially when this is literally the first feature listed in the plex pass perks; it’s gotta be auto on desktop thanks <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

im back here to say ALSO the skip credits button by all rights should have a toggle to be a next episode button, in addition to all the various ways this can and should be automatic on desktop etc. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES ive clicked the wrong button because at the start/end of every episode i’ve gotta click the right one; and sure its only a few more clicks to get to where im supposed to be; but i hear this is all automatic on every other platform, even the ones with shoddy codec support…

Came here looking for an answer after I had to force my library to rescan for intro’s. This is disappointing but not surprising. Come on Plex, do better.

I gave up on it. I think it’s an intentional design. I do wonder if this is consider false advertising considering the plex pass page never mentioned this feature isn’t supported on all platforms. I think it’s unreasonable to expect customers to go through blog posts to find out a feature they are selling is only partially supported. Maybe they will change their mind if someone try to sue them over it?

Kind of crazy that we even have to request this, it feels like having an “auto skip intro/credits” option would be pretty standard.

It’s even crazier if you recall a typical video player will just auto play the next video by default (in context of auto play) with no downtime in between. They locked it as a paid feature but don’t even support it on all platforms..

Also, side-tracking a little but a typical video player will also remember the last played item in a playlist with no or bare minimum changes required to be made in the setting. Boy am I surprised when I learn that playlist in Plex never remember the last played item and there is no way to make it so..

Have you tried to enable Auto Play?

Your Plex server is storing a history of all plays.

Auto play is on and it works, but there’s a 10 sec delay in between which cannot be adjusted (along with auto skip intro/credit, hence this thread was created) on Plex for Windows for some reason.

Sure, it store the history, but I can’t resume playback in a playlist the way typical media player work. Like if I finish watching item 8 on the playlist, I should be able to resume from item 9 on the playlist via continue watching (or within the playlist) next time. That doesn’t work as far as I can tell

This is a different topic and has nothing to do with the differences between the various Plex clients. It is currently not possible in Plex at all.

I think you missed the part where I said side-tracking when I first brought it up.. (It’s somewhat related in the sense that auto play next video immediately and resuming playback in playlist is a very basic function in media players). Noted the playlist part isn’t possible.

Back on topic, are there even any plans to fully support auto skipping of intro/credits and immediate play next on Plex for Windows?

Still no reply on fully support auto skipping of intro/credits and immediate play next on Plex for Windows?

Ok… found this here now after searching for Hours.

So the Browser and Windows App don’t support auto skip… wow

Only possible workaround for now is using Plex HTPC on Windows to have this.

Is there no one Official that can answer if this is coming, or what is the problem ?

For me this was to the feature to buy the Plex Pass and now i must use an TV app to watch on PC…

So how is this not fixed yet? Seems like a stupid easy fix
