Auto start server and auto start music playlist

Hello, I am looking to use Plex Media Server to sync my fitness studios music. We have several studios and we are looking for a way to update the music when we want/need without needing to be in the studio. So for this, I plan to use plex locally at each location (with a sync to my main music folders to avoid internet outages) to play my music. My biggest question is a power outage situation. When my PC/Mac turns off, I can set it to turn back on when the power comes back on and I know I can have the Plex server start in the background automatically, but is there any way for plex to start and start playing a specific playlist by default? Otherwise, I would need to put TeamViewer or something on these PC/Macs in order to manually start the music.

I would love your thoughts!!
Cheers,

Use plexamp.

Not only does it support loudness leveling so all songs have the same loudness feel to them, but it also overlaps the start and end of songs so the whole playlist feels ‘organic’.

And Plex amp defaults to resume playing if it was shutdown rudely by a power outage or other crash.
All you need to do is find a way to auto-start the plexamp program with a ‘delay’, in order to give the plex server program enough time to start itself.
I am no Mac expert but I think there is some way.

For the few occasions when it doesn’t start playback on its own, instruct local personnel how to start playback in Plexamp or use a remote desktop software.

I will ask how to automate this further.

So Plexamp is on top of Plex Media Server? Also, the reason I ask is because there is not always a local person at the facility. Trainers are there throughout the day, but not all the time.

Yes, plexamp is a Plex client.
Just like the web app is a client.

The trick is is start them both in the right order.

I was able to get them to start in the right order… I was also able to get the mac to restart after power failure… the biggest issue I have right now is that there doesn’t seem to be a loop function in plexamp, so the playlist ends. Am I missing something?

You are correct. There is no repeat feature.
The workaround would be to have enough music to cover a whole business day. Then schedule a reboot 30 mins. before opening doors.

Yeah, that won’t work. I’d be better off just using Plex that way because I can loop my playlists there.

So is it safe to say that due to there being no loop feature, Plex or any of its applications would not be able to do my workflow?

Plexamp doesn’t have a repeat feature yet.
Other Plex clients do.

So what other Plex client would you recommend?

To be perfectly honest, none currently. Until Plexamp gains ‘repeat’ and some kind of ‘automatic enqueueing’ of some defined playlist or ‘Library Radio’, none is completely fitting for your use case.

If you had to give me a rough idea of features coming to plexamp, what would be a timeframe? I know you can say it’s not known, but are we talking months or years in adding features?

Honestly, I don’t know.
