Auto Starting Plex Player

I have had a Plex server running at home for a number of years, and I really like it.

We recently set up a Plex Server to manage media and images for a small Heritage Center. People will be allowed to come in and use the Plex GUI to search and review videos and images.

There are a few rooms where we have TVs and I wanted to be able to play one or more videos from the server on the TVs. The requirements are:

  • small footprint player
  • ideally based on something like RaspberryPi (read ‘inexpensive’)
  • need to have the player boot and start a pre-defined playlist from the network server on power up
  • HDMI output (kinda why I like the Pi solution)

I know there is a Plex player project for the Pi, but I could not find any info as to its ability to auto start a playlist.

Any help would be great!

I thought you wanted users to be able to search for the video. Why the need to auto start a playlist?

Edit - No Plex client has that ability.
