Kiosk/Auto play

I have a TV I’d like to set up a playlist that “just plays”, and keeps playing, all the videos in the playlist ( in order ). Ideally I’m looking for a device that boots directly into plex AND the play list in question, and auto-starts playing it.

Essentially, something “hands off”; once I set it up, it just runs.

Does anything like this exist?

Plex is not for that kind of use case.

You rather want something that’s usually called “digital signage”.

On the cheap, you can go with Kodi or https://libreelec.tv/
I hear it has support for some kind of “autorun” script which auto-plays the items on that list immediately after booting up.

Ah, perfect, thank you.

I would think that on a Windows PC you’d be able to autostart a Plex playlist using the web player - it’s just a URL (I’m sure can be done with other OS’s as well).

But you’d probably want some sort of kiosk software installed to lock the OS down.

Would be easier to do with a streaming device (just hide the remote lol), but unfortunately that would require someone to manually start it every day.

Looks like Windows 11 (and possibly 10) have a built-in kiosk mode: Windows Single-App and Multi-App Kiosk Configuration Options Overview | Microsoft Learn
