Automate Optimized Versions using software transcoder / stream using hardware transcoder

Hi Plex,

My small Intel N3150 powered computer is capable of using the hardware transcoding option, and fares quite well serving up one local stream this way.

But sometimes some media are encoded a bit differently, and the hardware transcoding isn’t resilient enough to work through it (or support it).

But I thought by creating Optimized Version of new media (Universal TV) - every time stuff is added to Recently Added Movies and On Deck - I can create media which is better suited for the real-time hardware transcoding.

But it seems with the Hardware Transcoder option selected, the Optimizing of certain media (and also the Syncing to mobile) just fails outright. I guess because of lack of codec support in the hardware transcoder…

Is there a way to force Plex to Optimize (and Sync) using the software trancoder, although slow but with all codec-support?
But have the hardware transcoder be used for serving up media to my nVidia Shield TV, and mobile devices remotely…??
