Self explanatory, would be nice to have an option to auto play the next episode when you are in one of those “marathon moods”
Don't you think you should have added an option for 'No'?
I would actually rather see a playlist feature. This would allow for playing music videos back to back in your pre-selected order. Also good for tv series.
Yes, definitely. It’s my new favorite feature on Netflix and it would be fantastic to have on Plex.
It should be like at netflix: Always automatically load the next episode unless the user stops it before it happens.
“Starting next episode in 15 seconds” at the end of the current episode.
+1 for me with this. I tend to go through more than one episode and although it requires little effort It bugs me to switch to the next one with the apple remote.
A huge +1 for those rainy days where we all just want to veg out on the couch and run through a series without having to move! You’ve all been there, admit it!
I never have time for more than a single hour of viewing anything, so this one wont impact me at all.
Also, I was thinking about these feature request type of polls. Do they make sense at all? Does it matter if 10 or 100 people want a feature? What we really need is a list of features that the devs are interested in implementing and the ability to rank them. If we had an estimated level of effort and an idea of how many can be implemented at once that would be helpful too.
I think the polls are great just for the sole purpose to see if you are in a minority or a majority with certain features. This “consecutive playing” feature could be great for users for different reasons such as a TV marathon or for putting on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to play in the back ground non-stop while watching the little ones. It could most certainly give Plex a more TV feel…
But without an idea of what features **wouldn't** be developed while this one was, who would say "no." Like I said, I have no use for this feature at all, I never have enough time to sit through multiple episodes and don't really want my kids spending multiple, consecutive hours in front of the TV either. But I didn't vote "no" for this feature because as long as it doesn't impact my current usage of the product I don't care what other features get added. In that sense we would all want all features to be added, woo hoo! But unless we can say "I want feature A more than feature B" this voting doesn't hold a lot of meaning.
+1
This sort of change would go form one extreme to the other and would be a negative impact to some (most?) users unless there was a universal on/off switch for it.
I do agree that a hierarchy of requested features would be a great poll. For instance, every user would be granted 5 votes to spend on the features they deem the most important to them…
A play next or full playlist feature is definitely something that I would like to see added into Plex and I know from a few of my friends they would love the feature as well.
Pretty sure the Samsung App has an auto play next feature does it not?
I'd like that too, very much. It would just make the day to day mediacenter experience better.
And when you throw a party you just pass the remote around and everyone can put a few songs in the queue/playlist.
So: Some queue like feature for your local media (anything from music to TV shows...) -> +1
(But a 'The next episode starts in 15 seconds' possibility would be awesome as well.) :-]
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but this is exactly what I'm talking about. Give users a finite number of votes to apply to different features. Maybe users could earn more votes some how. Users then vote for the features they want and those bubble up. Of course to be totally informed users would have to know what the LOE is for each feature request which would have to be provided by the devs. Then the devs or their management could use this as a guideline for what their roadmap looks like.
I think this should be on the client side. An option in the settings for the client to auto play next video. But probably have the options separated for each library, possible options.
Auto Play options
TV
Next episode in series
Next Season
Movies
Next in a collection
Next unwatched
Next in recently added
Next in recently released
Music
Next Album in currently playing artist
Next Playlist (of course playlists would have to be implemented, right now I think it would be a collection)
I think for TV it would be check boxes so it would do both if you wanted, Movies I would only see using one option, but again check boxes, Music you could do both but it would have to know what your currently doing, as in your not in a playlist it would do the first option, if in a playlist it would do the second option.
You can sort of do this already with PMC on windows.
1 use Q key to add each item to playlist
2 use SPACE key to bring up list
3 use ENTER key to start playback
Items will play one at a time in selected order.
Honestly? I'd prefer some of the other addons before this considering this is just for the **insanely** lazy people out there, but, assuming everything else it done, this would be a nice idea.
I can't speak for other Clients, but I know that the Roku Plex Client App already has this function. I use it now and then, and actually just used it yesterday. It's in Options and called Continuous Play. It can be enabled universally by enabling it in Preferences/Advanced, or individually by enabling it in a video's Playback Options. I believe this function was added back in February or March of this year.
