Automatically skipping library dashboards

I’ve been using Plex for a while now and I love it. I mostly use it to steam to an Amazon Fire TV from my PC.

Whenever I want to look for content in a library on my TV, I click on the name of the library in the left-side panel and instead of seeing the content, I get a dashboard for that library with options like Recently Added or Recently Viewed. If I want to actually see my library content, I have to go left and click on Browse All.

I’ve been searching around for a way to disable this library dashboard and I haven’t found anything. I’ve already removed all content from the main dashboard but I’ve had no luck with the individual library ones. I’m sure I just overlooked some small setting, but how do I skip the library dashboard and go directly to Browse All when opening a library?

You don’t.

User options are not part of Plex’s Grand Plan.

How do you mean?

I mean there is no way to customize the layout.

Plex has decided what is best.

There is no option to turn off the Discovery/Hub page.

To my knowledge there are only two (2) user options regarding the layout or features, one after a long running battle with developers resulting in many casualties before Plex finally and begrudgingly capitulated before any more of the community performed self-immolation - and this was while the app was still in development:

  1. the switch to choose between Dim and Blur (we honor our crispy fallen comrades)
  2. the switch to ‘partially’ disable AutoPlay (after the long running and well documented thermonuclear war between users and Netflix Plex could see the writing on the wall - and this was a bloody miracle!)

The pleas by the community during app development warning Plex that Horizontal Scrolling of library items was a bad idea fell on deaf ears in the Plex development ranks and Horizontal Scrolling of library items remains one of - if not the most - hated layout designs ever developed. The users were right and Plex was wrong and after a year Plex remains steadfast in the belief that one day we’ll get used to it and be as much in love with Horizontal Scrolling as Plex is, but to date that just hasn’t happened (and it never will).

There is a reason my primary Plex device is a Roku and the primary Plex app on that Roku is an unsupported and no longer developed RARflix and ^^That’s^^ the reason.

Once Plex decides what is best for you - the party is over. You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.
