AV1 in the webplayer?

I swapped out a h264 copy of a show episode with an AV1 version, I then forgot to refresh the metadata/scan for changes before I started playing it on the web player. It seemed to play it perfectly fine with it thinking it could direct play it. Turns out it could play it!

I can’t wait for AV1 support to be fully implemented in the web player.

That is all, just thought it was cool it didn’t fail and that the support is there while also raising AV1 again so it doesn’t get forgotten. Some of us really do want to use it.

Which browser on which OS?

It was Opera GX on Windows 11.

Usually playing AV1 will always transcode on the web player. I have multiple users using different browsers and none of them have successfully direct played AV1.
