Availability?

Showed up 10 minutes ago and working like a charm over here. I guess this is a decent place to ask a few technical questions instead of creating a whole other post:

  • The audio is just listed as “AAC” audio. I’m at a computer so I can’t test: Is that stereo or AC3?
  • The movies in HD look quite good while streaming! Any chance I can ask how they’re encoded? Bit rates?

Ive had a look at a few different titles so far (more out of curiosity than anything else) and not triggered an advert yet. Are the ads no active yet or are they very infrquent?

You seem to mix-up ‘number of channels’ with ‘stream format’.
AC3 is a stream format which can transport either mono, stereo or 5.1 channels.
AAC does also support up to 5.1 (and probably more).

In this case you can assume that AAC = stereo.

i got an ad right off the bat, so they are working for some

the video quality does look good on mobile, will check it out later at home how it scales to 4k/surround.

Yep sorry, but happily you knew what I meant. Thanks.

How can I completely disable this feature? I had two people reporting to me that when they are searching for movies, they first get a heap of unwanted, bad B-movies on top before seeing the movies they actually want to see below.

I do not want this feature to be enabled on my server, please give us at least the option to opt-out of this service.

Same place as for all online services:

If we’re being pedantic (and when am I not?), technically “stereo” mean more than one channel, it’s the alternative to mono, meaning a single channel. Anything from 2 channels upwards is stereo. Binaural would be more appropriate to specify two channel audio.

OMG please review the AD SOUND VOLUME IS TOOO LOUD

especially the PLEX AD

jeez welcome to the 90’s.

volume normalization plz k thx

any regular user can disable them completely in their accounts online media sources settings. https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/online-media-sources

This just disables it for me though, not for the rest of the users who are not always that tech savvy.

Ads are showing for me, and the second ad I got was for Plex + Tidal

That’s because it’s not a Server based service; it’s user account-based. Simply point your users to the same URL.

I doubt this is the best solution they can come up with. I simply want a option to disable this feature throughout the server so my users can get a better experience.

This could also be done by letting people choose through a pop-up, asking they want this or not.

each user has their own account. you cannot change their account level settings. just like you cannot change their username for example

That’s an excellent suggestion.

This has always been the way with all the online sources.

The individual users have to choose if they want them or not.

Guys, you need to sort out content ratings IMMEDIATELY!

A lot of stuff on there has no rating, so out of curiosity I had a look at the Korean movie “Our Body” and it opens straight into a sex scene. NOT GOOD

(haha, the forum blocks the word “S E X” but anyone can watch a movie with it in )

edit

Also, content restrictions for managed users do not apply to this content. I just logged in with my son’s account (restricted to content 12A/PG13 and below) and he was able to browse and view any content. I’ve disabled this for all my managed users now :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I see it on the WebApp, but no access to it from my server (configuration) or IOS / FireTV Apps as of yet, when will those be released

it’s still rolling out, might take all day. also you might need to reboot/refresh device/apps.
