I have the Bach 2000 boxset collection and was wondering what is the recommended best practice for folder/file naming convention? I understand that typically it’s:
[artist]/[album]/[track name]
but in this case, it’s multiple volumes and under each volume there are CDs 1 through x (10, 15 whatever the total for the volume is).
So I’m looking at a collection that has a total of 12 volumes and anywhere from 10 to 15 or so CDs per volume. What is the best way to arrange this?
Would it be:
[artist]/[album]/[volume number]/[cd number]/[track number - track name]
??
Plex has no support for box sets whatsoever.
You can put all the discs in with specific disc numbers. Give each disc a specific name based on the naming convention in the box set. Import the album and then go look at library to the new albums that were just ingested. There will probably be about 20 or 30 since many of the albums in that box set were released as individual albums in the past so they come in as those albums. But one or two of them may come in with the Bach 2000 name. Pick one of those and then shift select all the other discs that came in at the same time. Merge them. Now they are all part of “Bach 2000” with their specific disc number breaking them out. You will lose the individual disc name but hopefully you will have the docs that came with the box set. But as said above, there is no ‘real’ support for box sets. It may be just as good to leave them as individual albums if that’s how they came in because at least the disc names will be preserved (maybe).
Note, the CD number will be in the metadata tag, not the directory although it probably wouldn’t hurt to put it there either.
