Background Transcodes CRAWLING after CPU Upgrade

Server Version#: Latest Plex Pass

I just upgraded my server CPU from a Xeon D-1541 to a Xeon E5-2680v3. Now my background transcodes (Mobile Sync, Optimized Versions) are crawling and my CPU usage is less than 10% during the process. Why would Plex not use more available CPU power?

FYI my Background transcoding x264 preset is set to Super Fast.

EDIT: I’ve narrowed this down to only files with EAC3 audio. It doesn’t just affect the background transcodes of said files, playback of them does not work at all either.

Logs shows:

It’s a single-threaded task.

Your new CPU has 18585 Passmarks / 12 cores = 1548 / thread
Your old CPU has 11069 / 8 cores = 1383 / thread

No real gain here.

Yea I didn’t realize that before but the results I’m seeing make that clear. I just really wish that wasn’t the case or you could at least configure how much CPU power you want to dedicate to background transcodes. Some of us do no live transcoding but tons of mobile syncing.
