Backing Up Metadata on My Cloud Ex 2 Ultra (Being Able to Access the Drive)

I’d be very grateful if someone come up with a solution that I haven’t been able to find for the past few months.

I have an incredibly large amount of metadata on my My Cloud Ex2 Ultra that’s many hours of editing to add. Data that I doubt I’d want to start again if it was wiped.

I’m planning on adding second main hard drive to the NAS and using both in RAID 0 (I currently have my main HDD containing the content, and a smaller one, set up in JBOD. This means I’ll need to save everything that’s on the current single main hard drive and then add it all back to the newly formatted twin drives after formatting.

Of course the media itself it easy to access and save, but the metadata is another matter. I’m aware that there’s a help section on this site that details the location of where the metadata is stored on WD NAS drives, but there’s apparently no obvious way to actually gain access to any of the directories.

Western Digital themselves are no help whatsoever. Their simple answer is that it can’t be done.

So what can I do? Plex itself has no way to backup the metadata within the client itself, assuming, I guess, that the user can reach the necessary folder on the NAS and do it manually, which isn’t the case. I’ve given up adding anything else to my NAS, because there’s no point until I can find a way to back up.

I’m not particularly knowledgeable about networks or even Linux, so if anyone more knowledge that myself would be kind enough to walk me through some method for accessing the directories I need, I’d be very thankful.
