Batch convert only unknown audio to english for mp4 and mkv

Hi,

So my movies play subtitles for foreign language films but not for English I’m hoping for some help converting unknown audio files to English but only the unknown files.

I have had a look at several programs and through the forums but I cannot find an answer to my problem.

Ideally I want to scan through all my movies and change any audio tracks that are unknown to English also without having to remux every thing as it goes.

all the tools/scripts i have seen will just change the first audio track to English even if it was meant to be in a foreign language.

I have manually edited all my Foreign films already so all that should be left is unknown English tracks.

Is there a command to check the language first then only change if it is unknown?

Also my films are a mix of mp4 and mkv so again some thing that would do both at the same time.

Thanks in advance

You could probably write something by parsing the MediaInfo and then changing the flag on the track using ffmpeg or MKVToolNix, but that seems like a lot of work

I don’t mind if it takes a bit to set up as once the script is written I can just reuse it.

Do you have any suggestions for the syntax or the commands that could do this?

Thanks

I would like to second this! I’ve long wanted to do this to my library.
