Not exactly sure what you’re aiming for
The big incentive of using PLEX and following their naming conventions is so that PLEX can automatically match the files and assign the correct metadata.
From what I read in your request, you’re actually looking for a workaround for libraries / content which cannot or should not be matched to use a part of the file‘s name instead. Default behavior at this moment is to list episodes with their episode number (as per your example: e.g. „Episode 1“). In your example you’d want to display the „optional info“ instead (see naming conventions).
There is no real solution for this.
Either you are switching to mp4 files (then you can embed the episode title into the file itself and Plex will read it)
or you are adding a Kodi-compliant .nfo file with all the info. Then use the .nfo importer agents to import these into Plex.

Thanks Otto for the tip about .nfo, I will try it and let you know if it worked.
Just out of curiosity why does it work with mp4 and not mkv ?
One last thing this is also why I posted inside the “feature request” forum, but I don’t know if other members also have title issues when importing there data…
I understand the OP. I have clips, movies, own video’s etc… that are not found in external databases. I do have given these files a filename that is meaningful to me. In Plex I can manually look at the information and copy that in the name field, but I have to do this for each file. In case I would lose the metadata for some reason, I need to do this all over again. Also, now for certain new files I have to copy the filename to the name field. It would be nice if there exists a feature that takes the filename in cases where no metadata is available and this for mkv files, see the link where it is stated that this is not the case yet (in blue), https://support.plex.tv/articles/200265256-naming-home-series-media/
