Problem: some shows are just messed up or missing in thetvdb.
solution: in a_tv_series > Edit> General have an ‘ignore thetvdb’ checkbox that then tells Plex to use the file naming schema to determine series name, episode number and episode name (i.e. DON’T ignore the stuff after the episode number.)
This would solve (among other things) Plex being a BAG OF FAIL for storage of recorded Olympics airings.
Use ‘Fix Match’ on this series to match it to the ‘Personal Media’ agent instead.
(This might not be possible on a series that is still currently being recorded with the Plex DVR feature.)
Nope. Tried it. Doesn’t solve the problem. What I/we users need to preserve and show is what comes AFTER the episode number.
Ah you are looking for a way to have Plex read the episode name from the file name. That is unfortunately not possible.
There is another way: when you embed the title of the episode into the ‘Title’ metatag of that file.
You are using mp4 files, so that may be an option for you.
