Hello!
Just for context, this was my first ever media server build so its very messy as I was trying to learn.
I have an HP Elite Mini 800 G9 running Ubuntu Server with Casa OS. I have a Terramaster D4-300 that I am needing to replace as it is failing on me after 18 months of use.
I am needing to know what DAS is going to be reliable for near constant I/O transfer and up to 5 simultaneous streams taking place.
I know basically everyone recommends a NAS, but in my case I don’t need it since I have my Elite Mini and I don’t have the time to rebuild everything I have on my Elite Mini on the NAS.
Thank you all for the help!

Personally, I chose to go with a dedicated Ubuntu server running in Raid on a bare-bones PC that we built. PMS is the only thing running on the server. An Intel i3-10100 CPU@3.60GHz (comes with integrated Quick Sync Hardware Transcoding), 8GB DDR4 RAM, power supply, ethernet adapter on the motherboard, and a Hauppauge QuadHD tuner card. Two Seagate IronWolf 12TB drives running in Raid. No issues with streaming performance while at the same time recording 4 TV shows. The best solution is the simplest solution.
After much searching a little over a year ago, when I was speccing up my new server, I ended up getting one of these, primarily because it uses a separate RAID controller that is put in the PC case, which then connects to the box using Mini-SAS cables, and because of that, it’s lightning fast…
However I see you have a mini PC, so that won’t work.
If your mini PC has a Thunderbolt port, HighPoint have an 8 bay Thunderbolt enclosure…
However as your mini pc seems to have a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, perhaps this might be a good option…
