Best Plex Player for audiophiles?

Plex doesn’t do gapless playback, that’s the complete opposite of audiophile to me.

I don’t really know how to solve this… How to listen to high res audio thought PLEX at my TV with a DAC… Sure, I can build something like a HTPC, get a NUC or something like that and attach it to the back of the TV or having it in my Hi-Fi rack or something like that. Then I can have it to run a “PC version” of Plex Media Player… But when you say a “PC version”, do you mean Windows only or could it be Linux or for “embeded systems”?

The embedded (it brings a customized version of Linux with it) version of PMP would need a proper driver for your sound interface. I guess they don’t offer Linux drivers, do they?

It seems like it’s possible to use the Asus Xonar Essence STU DAC thought USB (the only input with 192 khz and ASIO support) offers Windows drivers only… BUT I been reading that it MIGHT be possible to get sound in Linux anyway… If I been activating some ALSA modules or maybe installing/compiling the main drivers for the chipset… I haven’t digged into this any much so I don’t understand how it works like…

Maybe it won’t work… I should maybe contact Asus and make a request for Linux drivers… However I think they won’t release linux drivers just for me…

THAT is the reason why I can’t hear the first 1-2 sec when I turn on a track with my DAC? It’s really enjoying to be honest… Do you know the reason for not providing gapless playback?

Sorry… Double post.

No that would be a different problem. Lack of gapless is a short drop out of audio changing tracks. DSOTM without the smooth flawless transition between tracks is rather annoying.

I got to be happy to own that one on LP then…

So they just don’t care about it then… otherwise there must be a clear reason for it. But sure, now I understand what you mean. It’s an annoying thing for sure.

Maybe… Just maybe I should seperate TV and PLEX from the Hi-Fi and make a “listening” corner instead…

Gapless has been in the feature requests for something like 5 years now, obviously they don’t care.

I suggest Roon for music, it’s very expensive but very good. They plan to have remote syncing of content implemented this year.
