Hello, I am new to Plex, and I am going through the guides, and not sure if this is possible.
I am trying to structure my naming so it works/detects with 2 levels (I know TV Shows are 3). I have a lot of media that I would like to organize in 2 levels. I am trying the below naming convention (sample text below) but it doesn’t seem to work. Is something like this possible with Plex?
You can do that, but it won’t matter to Plex in a movie library.
Since you’re going to be hand editing anyway consider putting those videos into a TV Show Library and use the Personal Media Agent - so Plex won’t try to match them.
Thanks so much for the tips - would I be able to chance “Season” to something different though? These wouldn’t have seasons. For ones with just one “episode” would that then just show the one title, or would I have to select a season/etc?
Seasons can be hidden in many Plex clients. So all you usually see is the main title of the series and the episodes.
You still should create the Season subfolders on your file storage, though.
Also experiment with Collections in a Movie Library Type. I find Collections cumbersome to create, use and get rid of, but you might find them acceptable for what you’re doing.
Thx so much. I have actually been turning off collections as they seem to be showing duplicates of all my media in a library (might not be understanding/using them correctly). Will try to read up more on it.
Loving Plex so far - the biggest task seems to be figuring out the best way to organize/name my libraries. Sadly, I have a lot of libraries that I would want together, but contain a combination of single videos and videos in a series/etc so it doesn’t seem to be as straightforward as I had hoped. I do appreciate all the tips though!
