I would love better and more control over the users and friends on my plex server. I would like to access their " Authorized Devices" and delete them (if a friend forgot to logout somewhere for instance). Also, I would like to see some features like forcing a change of password or a change of pin code on users.
Next, a required pin code would be nice as well. Such that I can force friends to have a pin code.
Restricting IP-addresses, bandwidth per user, number of connections per user. Things like that.
That’s not fair in the least. Those settings are for that user, not you.
Remember, ultimately you only give access to your server, nothing more.
And anything more just seems cruel.
Some people do not know how to handle online security. I do not think it is “cruel” to protect my server content from unknown people.
I think you are looking at it one-sided. You are seeing it one server, one friend. What if your friend has access to 19 servers(20 if you count yours). By what right do you have locking your friend out of his/her account until they change their password. That’s not fair. They can’t access the other 19 servers because you demand them to change passwords and/or change/add a PIN. Not cool.
Though, what I might get onboard with maybe is that they can’t access yours until they change their password. A sortof lockout on your server only. They will still have access to the other 19 servers. But still this is a big maybe because this could cause your friend to have to change their password constantly because all the server owners requesting/requiring it. Not a pleasant experience for your friend at all. And, in some cases will make Plex not even worth the effort.
Here are some files I use to “teach” my friends the error of their ways.
UnauthorizedPlexAccess.zip (381.3 KB)
I hope they can help you.
