The following, ah, bug, been happening for approximately 50% of the media I watch over a week now. When I press the Return/Back button on my remote control while watching a video, the screen will go Black and sit there. I can hear that the UI is available (“tick” sounds when moving around the UI), but it’s clear that something else (MPV??!) is stuck open and blocking the UI.
My only solution to resolve the problem, thus far, is to forcibly close the application with a keyboard/mouse, then reload it.
I am running Linux Mint 21.2 (updated daily since issue started) and PlexHTPC 1.51.1 (Stable/Flatpak).
At this point I think I’ve tried togged ever setting under the Video playback preferences and I can’t seem to nail down what is causing the issue.
Also, where is Plex’s bug reporting mechanism located? Or are the Forums the only place where I can provide reports to the development team?
Alright, I feel as though I have identified the issue: Auto Play Countdown Time set to “Immediately” results in a black/blank screen when dismissing/stopping playback at/near the end of the content.
Steps to Reproduce (Note: I am doing this Managed Users.)
Go to the user’s Settings, then choose Player Experience from the categories menu.
Change Auto Play Countdown Time to Immediately
Go back to the Home screen and begin playback of a piece of content.
Skip to the last ~90/95% of the content, then return to the previous screen (press back/escape on your remote).
At this point I see a blank screen. When I move the cursor around with the arrow keys, parts of the playback UI can be seen. I can also hear the UI’s feedback sounds. However, the only way to get back to Plex’s actual menu system is by forcing it closed and re-loading the program.
Fixing the issue was just the inverse of the recipe: Change Auto Play Countdown Time to 5 Seconds or higher.
