is it possible to implement a blurring effect to backgrounds/Slideshow?
and is it possible to get rid of the old fashion grainy overlay to a more “streamlined” overlay?

Aeon Nox skin has a blur background feature, not sure about the other skins.
dont understand your second question, can you be more specific?
it was more of a question if we could have blurred fanart/slideshow in the openPHT skin. maybe it can be implemented from the Aeon nox Skin?
the second question is that openPHT has a has an overlay on top of the fanart so it looks a bit grainy. in that case im not sure if it would look weird with blurr and grain at the same time.
the default skin isnt really developed, i wouldnt get your hopes up
but both things you asked for, are in the aeon nox skin already. you can change the nox skin to have the same menu style as default skin + it has soo many more things you can tweak and customise, including the new menu customiser that 1.8.0 release has (default skin wont get this feature)
