I’ll throw my hat into the ring, this feature is sorely needed. The convenience of being able to make custom playlists of moments for viewing specific topics (hero poses, final battles, etc) would be a great feature to have.
The other day I was talking to a friend about the misleading doctor in Arrested Development and he thought the concept was really funny but had never seen it; this feature would have made it really easy to show him the highlight reel of that specific gag.
Please add bookmarks and also the ability to create bookmark playlists!
How hard could it be to simply add the following checkbox when adding to a playlist whilst playing a video. In the world of digital, this is a MUST! Youtube cracked this over a decade ago, it boggles the mind something so simple is not already implemented.
I'd love a way to bookmark/make FAVORITES - create links to a particular scene in a movie as you watch it, or to a particular YOU TUBE item, or a place in a TV show, a playlist on Pandora, a search result page, etc.
A generic SAVE MY PLACE function, autonamed as reasonably as possible, but maybe capable of being renamed in the manager UI.
FAVORITES could be shown/selected from another high-level menu item, a peer to QUEUE and SEARCH.
Mod-Edit: Merged 2 separate suggestions asking for the same feature. Considering the (slightly) newer thread had more votes (17), I’ve merged the older one (5 votes) into this one.
Bump!!! Can we please get this? It would saved me hundreds of hours of searching for things when I’m trying to show scenes as examples to folks. Thanks!
I love series, but usually fall asleep while watching, just to find out that I’m 4 episodes down that didn’t watch.
A bookmark would be a great way to rollback to the place where I was conscious enough and mark the rest as unwatched.
I listen to audio books on my tablet (essentially a music database) and I would like to be able to bookmark where I am when I finish listening. Sometime the table will remember where I was but if the tablet is reset it forgets and I have to find my location manually.
Would love the ability to cut a lot of fat out of movies (such as removing opening logos, credits and intermissions), or even specific types of flagged content (violence and sex for example).
bump again. why are plex developers heedless of this feature even after so many requests.
i am a filmmaker and would love to mark timecodes in a particular movie scene or shots, and probably add short notes on the fly, creating reference cues for me to comeback to when i look for something. if you do manage to add them, please make notes searchable as well, add tags too. that would work out wonders for a lot of people
What about a third-party app that allow you to do this for your Plex library? Save scene/bookmarks with timecodes and notes. I’m planning on building one. Let me know if you’re interested in testing it out. Will prioritize it based on the interest level here. Cheers!
google “in the movie (movie name), at what time index does (whatever you are looking for) occur?”
Start up movie and jump to that time point
Just how many times are you ever going to need to return to that bookmark??? Seriously.
If it’s to a scene you must reference, cut a copy of the scene, then put it into the “Scenes” sub-directory and it will show up nicely in Plex as a bonus featurette in the movie lobby.
Many suggested features here contribute no actual value to the interface and most are simply people being lazy and not wanting to use Google before they watch a movie… I mean if you are watching a movie and want to find a particular scene… use your smartphone and look it up!
I will say that adding chapters is very useful indeed, but is that something supported by all popular formats? If not, it’s not reasonable to consider.
You are not making a reasonable request, nor one that adds value to the interface.
Do what I’ve been doing for 20 years. EDIT a copy of the file, can CUT out all your favorite scenes and save them to a sub-folder called “SCENES” or whatever the folder needs to be named for Plex to see it.
It’s MUCH easier to work with these kinds of small files anyway. And easy to email/share/post/make-a-ringtone etc. You don’t need plex at all to do this, and it would also be a waste of what plex is good at— managing libraries.
