I cannot watch live tv…even from my PC direct to my server which is a synology DS218+ with 6Gb memory and the tuner is a HDHomerun extend. I had a HDHomerun 4 tuner on it and was told to buy the extend since it converts the signal rather than the Synology doing so. The picture will run fine for about 30 seconds and then buffer for 15. HDHomerun recommends Synology and when it is run outside of Plex the picture is great as are the recordings with absolutely no buffering. Any suggestions? Any body else having this issue?
Ha - I am having this exact same problem. I haven’t bought an extend, and I’m glad I haven’t since you’re still having the same problem. I’ve opened a ticket with silicon dust (we’ll see if they have any suggestions), and meanwhile I’m going to try another media server software package with live tv support to see if it works better. Let me know if you ever found a solution to this issue. Thanks!
I just tried and MKV movie. Server Mac mini i7 16gb ram.
(Hangs) Buffering at about 3/4 of the way. Tried directly on Mac mini in Plex web app. Same thing. Movie plays fine on playstation 4 media player or in VLC. Plex seems overrated to me. Pretty icons for movies but who cares if it can play the media.
The same thing here, if I have very good 17gb movie file, it plays fine on the computer but on Samsung TV is impossible to watch cause buffering is every 1 minute…
I suppose the reason is that Plex server didn’t have enough resources, memory could to convert the movie?
