Everything is direct play and hardwired. Should not be buffering, but it has for the past few months and I can’t find a solution. I’ve attached the logs. I’m at my wits end here. I don’t know if it’s my PC or something on my network. HELP! Haha
Before digesting any logs…
When do you experience the buffering? For all your content/movies or just on some of them?
Any particular example from recently before you downloaded the log files?
I typically stream HD and 4K. It happens with everything. I keep seeing spikes in my bandwidth on PMS. It’s happening right now, with a 4K copy of Black Hawk Down. Played fine for awhile, now buffering every minute or so. I watched a movie last night with no issues. Tried to watch stuff today and it’s a mess. Not sure how to fix it or why it’s happening. I’ve been trying to solve this for months. Everything is hardwired to the router.
4K videos can be tricky as there’s tons of stuff that can require your server to transcode – sometimes this goes even if the video format is supported but e.g. audio or subtitle don’t match a supported combination of tracks/streams.
From what I can see in the log, it seems the server temporarily loses the connection to your devices which gives it some hiccups. However I cannot see what might be the cause for that nor any other indicators as for why playback progress buffers.
Did you have a chance to look at the client logs?
Sorry for the delay on this. I ended up getting a new PC, and I’m still having the issue. I’ve attached my logs that should include a client log. I was also checking the bandwidth, and it’s smooth and then all of a sudden, it goes haywire (spiking and dropping constantly) and it buffers on the screen and then clears itself up for a bit.
