Buffering of videos

I have had some small issues with buffering form time to time in the past, but now I have it all the time every 5 to 10 minutes of the movie or tv show. The issue started after a brief power outage, less than a few seconds but it caused the reboot of the computer and the TV. Both of which are plugged into surge protectors. As the computer came back up it did install the latest Windows 10 system update. No other issues with the computer, wireless router or TV have manifested themselves since this but we are no longer able to stream from Plex or directly from the computer to the TV. I am assuming it must be a setting that got reset or something in the newest computer update is conflicting but I am not able to locate anything. I have turned on verbose logging to try and check the transcoder speed to ensure that is not the issue, but the tag speed is not showing in the logs. I have ran a show that buffered about 3 times within the first 5 minutes of the show but still did not find it in the logs. Any suggestions on what to look for? With our limited internet data due to utilizing a satellite service provider due to our location we are not able to utilize Netflicks or other streaming services so have come to rely on Plex for our video watching.

Ok, after contacting Samsung and working with one of their remote Techs, we powercycled the TV and the issue went away. Leaving this out there for anyone else that may run into the same issue as a possible fix

What’s your setup look like? Is everything running wirelessly? You’ll get performance improvements if you at least hard wire your Plex Server to the router. Probably fully eliminate your issues if you can wire the full setup.

It is all wireless at this time but I do plan on converting to wired in the future. Desktop is wireless as well as the TV for now.

OK, back to the drawing board. The power cycle of the TV only allowed me to watch 1 .mp4 video without buffering. A few hours later it was back to buffering every 3-5 minutes. I tried the power cycle again and it was not successful. Tried .avi and .mpg videos as well with the same outcome. What other settings am I missing?

First thing I would try would be to walk your server PC over to your router and see how she performs hard wired. Start eliminating variables.
