Multi-Trancode does not wotk or me.
AC3 issue always present no matter what anyone here says. (no edit, my Onkyo says “All Channel Stereo”, after edit “Dolby Digital”
I test multi-transcode before and after editing xml and python file.

@hutchpuppy What “recent” PMS version are you using ? Can you pls post PMS logs that include the above situation ? The best way to obtain them to debug this situation is the following one:

  1. Disable verbose logging, and enable debug logging (on PMS)
  2. Stop PMS and PlexConnect (so that a new set of logs are created)
  3. Modify Settings.cfg so that loglevel = High
  4. Start PMS and then PlexConnect
  5. Enable verbose loging (in PMS)
  6. Launch a transcoding session in one ATV, wait one minute, launch another transcoding session on a 2nd ATV, wait another minute
  7. Disable verbose logging and obtain PMS logs
  8. Stop PlexConnect and return loglevel to Normal

I spoke with the PMS support team and we should not rule out the possibility that this is a PMS bug instead of a PlexConnect bug.

I have no problem on my side. I am using PMS 1.9.7.4460, PlexConnect 0.5-dev-161017, and ATV firmware 7.2.2. There is no mod necessary to the config files unless you want to use Dolby digital.

PlexConnect 0.5-dev-161017 uses profile augmentation to enable AC3. I’m not sure if PMS 1.0.3 understands this. In case it ignores it, your best option is to create a user profile (changing PlexAPI to use tvos instead of ios will have problems with eac3 audio streams).

Sorry to revive and old thread, but I’m still having this issue. Do you mind taking a look at my logs moody_blue? I’ve attached them to this post. Thanks.
This is for issue of mixed up pms media temp transcoding files on pms server when more than 1 transcoding session started on atv3’s.logs.zip (734.6 KB)

For anyone who cares, I finally figured out and fixed this issue. I will point blame at both PMS and PlexConnect and requiring authentication in later PMS server releases.

Fix
In ATVSettings.cfg, each ATV must be logged in using it’s own myplex_user and myplex_auth
You can globally configure the myplex_user, but not the hashed myplex_auth, this must be unique for each ATV.

Issue
PlexConnect and PMS get transcoding confused when no authentication is used.

maybe Moody_blue can work with Plex to fix this issue.

I also have my PMS and PlexConnect running as a windows service (shouldn’t matter either)

Will running it as a service help with PC that becomes unresponsive after about a day? If you set a trigger to restart it when it stops working?

@hutchpuppy I’ve made some changes to PlexConnect, can you pls test if they fix the problem ?

From your logs I see that the 2nd transcoding session terminates the previous one. They have different id’s but transcoding audio only. I suspect that PlexConnect is not pinging the audio transcoder so the 2nd session kills the previous one. But then, why would it work with MyPlex signin ?

It drove me crazy until by chance trying myplex login. Since then 6 atv’s with no issues. Also weird the old one server would work ok without myplex login.

I’m happy, and life is good.
