Since at least October, (and it would seem from forum history back to August or a bit earlier) when you select artist radio for an artist, it creates a play queue of at most 5 tracks. The expected behaviour (based on tests on another platform) is that initially 10 tracks will be queued and when the tracks are almost used up, another 5 tracks (at least) will be added to the play queue. The actual behavior is that the radio stops after 5 tracks.
I have reproduced this on an nVidia Shield device and also on a Sony Android TV. The functionality seems to work as expected on current release LG WebOS TV (version 5.52.3)
This problem is causing me significant pain. I loved using the artist radio feature, mixing my server collection with Tidal tracks.
So, just in case others are hurt by this bug, I have found a workaround for the time being - install plexamp on a mobile device, play artist radio on that and cast to the Android TV using Chromecast.
On a tangent, wouldn’t it be nice to have Plexamp for Android TV? Then I could just use Plex for Android TV for movies and TV shows (which it is quite good at.) and not use it for music (which it is “meh” at.)
Well, the hope was nice while it lasted. Unfortunately casting artist Radio to Chromecast crashes after an indeterminate number of songs (may be only when you are trying to go to a tidal track - I need to investigate that.)
For the brave of heart, there is a different workaround that so far is working very well for me. I sideloaded Plexamp directly on my nVidia Shield device. It is a little troublesome in that you need a bluetooth-connected mouse to work the UI, but once you have your mouse working, it is by far the best music player I have ever had on Android TV and Artist Radio, Visualisers and DJs are working very well.
