If viewing an item in a collection (Movie, in this case - will confirm same for Shows in a moment) and a Show Collection of the same name is present it is shown under the actors - the same as it is here in Plexweb (although not nearly as graphically pleasing - no background or description - ahem):
However - if you view the Collection - the ONLY reason for the Collection, to bring this Show under it - The area where the show goes is an area of nothingness… 'cause there’s nothing there.
I’ll spare you the vertical cell phone image.
Your local test should provide what you need.
Note: When viewing the Collection in Shows - it doesn’t include the Movie, but if you view the Show, the Movie in the Collection is present - so it’s the same both ways.
I assume you are talking about clicking the Collections tab on in the header. Yes, in that case, on the Roku, it only shows items in a grid from that specific library. It’s still on the list to improve this as we need a dedicated screen for the Collection item.
I have a test here which I initially thought you were talking about, but then figured it must be the collections tab. I can see them all. Maybe I’m still missing something?
I created a collection called Kids with two movies and one show.
movie preplay showing movies and tv show in collection
Is there a Kids Collection in both TV Shows and Movies?
Make it so.
Go to the TV Show library.
open the Kids Collection.
Where are the Movies in the Kids TV Show Collection?
Go to The Movie Library.
open the Kids Collection.
Where are the TV Shows in the Kids Movie Collection?
Yes, from the pre-play screen the ‘other’ collection is visible.
Go to a library
Go inside the Collection.
The other library’s collection is NOT there.
My settings:
Collections are shown.
Collection items are hidden.
I only need to see the Collection Poster - not the items in it, when viewing the library.
Here’s hoping you enjoy these crappy cell phone images as much as I am:
My Fargo Movie Collection - Where’s my Fargo TV Show?
The ONLY reason to have a single movie in a collection - is to bring the TV Show into it. The ONLY reason to have a single TV Show in Collection is to bring the Movie into it.
There’s that - then there’s this:
When/If I make it to the bottom of the Science Fiction Collection without finding anything to watch:
Epilogue:
I would like to point out what is obvious to every user (with 288 Movies in his Science Fiction Collection…lol).
We need a letter stack in collections - in no uncertain terms… right now… not 10 years and a thousand votes from now.
This goes back to the collections tab, which is one way to expose this (which you don’t use). The underlying issue is that we do not have a specific screen for “collection item”. A collection item, for now, will open in a grid screen for that specific library. This is something we need to improve on the Roku. That is, when a collection is opened, we need to display a first class screen for that collection. The only way to view them now, is to dive into a preplay for an item in the collection.
Yes - it doesn’t work like it does in:
Plexweb
Plex Media Player
Plex for Whatever
FireTV (Tuesdays and Thursdays, Government Holidays and my Birthday).
