[Bug] - MacOS 10.14.3 - PMS 1.15.0.659 - "Run a partial scan when changes are detected" Not working

Server Version#: 1.15.0.659 MacOS 10.14.3 (Mojave)

MacMini 2012 w/Mojave 10.14.3

After upgrading to latest PMS version (1.15.0.659), “Run a partial scan when changes are detected” is no longer working. I have to manually force a scan to see added items.

On a PC, I’m using KMTTG to pull items from my TiVo, VideoRedo to tweak, and then Subler on the MacMini to finalize metadata and optimize the file. I pretty much have a couple of new files to add almost everyday. Before the upgrade, PMS would immediately notice the change to the library media location, scan, and add to the Plex DB. It is no longer doing this and I must manually scan the library for the new files to be added.

All of my Media is located on External drives, connected using USB3.0 to my MacMini 2012. I have 12TB RAID 5, 8TB RAID 0, and 3TB Stand Alone.

I’ve already tried disabling “Run a partial scan when changes are detected” and then re-enabling. There is no change in behavior, and PMS is not detecting changes and/or scanning the Drive/Folder.

After running a manual “Scan Library Files”, PMS correctly finds, adds, and tags the new files to the library.

[edit] Updated PMS from 1.15.0.647 to 1.15.0.659 today and there is no change for this bug. It is not running partial scan on changes to the media location folders.

I have the same issue with 10.14, haven’t upgraded yet. Partial scans aren’t working, not sure how/when to capture logs for this as I have a fairly automated process as well.

Same issue here, same release of PMS. I am on MacOS version 10.11.6, however. The libraries are on an internal drive, with mostly downloaded content.

On my other MacOS version 10.12.6, same release of PMS, I am not seeing the same problem. The libraries on this machines are on an external drive and all media is from HD Homerun tuner.

I have the same experience with both PMS 1.15.0.657 and 1.15.0.659.

EDIT: New media added from HD Homerun tuner on the MacOS 10.11.6 server are automatically added to the library, while downloaded media still doesn’t appear. Apparently adding media after recording from the DVR doesn’t kick off a library scan, it just gets inserted directly. I can assume that the 10.12.6 server probably suffers from the same library scanning bug, but I haven’t tested it yet.

EDIT again: Yes, the 10.12.6 server has the same issue with detecting new additions to the library directories. It just doesn’t work :frowning:

I remade my server on a new computer (imac), older one has High Sierra and new one Mojave (10.14.3) and it no longer seems to scan when a change is made. Migration of Library was perfect and server is working fine, however the server is not able to find the new addings automatically, however if I force the checking for new files, it works fine.
I have PMS updated to 1.15.0.647 (I dont have the option to update to 1.15.0.659)
I would appreciate any help in that isue.
EDIT: I have all the files in external USB 3.0 Hard Drives (all local)

Same issue here.

Latest version of PMS running on the latest version of MacOS.

Manual refresh will happily find & tag my media but auto-update just flat out does not work.

As a workaround I’ve set it to update every 15 minutes (used to have it set to 12 hours), but I’d rather it refresh only when new media is added.

Considering rolling back to an older version if there isn’t an update imminent.

Same issue as everyone above. Partial scan not working. Have to manually scan library for shows to appear.

Same as above

Same as above. Latest version of macOS, latest version of Beta PMS.

Same as above.

Yep, add me to the list. I was going crazy thinking it was a corrupt database or something.

I have my Library set to Automatically Scan and it did not detect any changes. So after a prompt to update Libraries that the additions of titles were detected. This is a bug, I hope a quick fix is in the works.

MacOS 10.14.3
Plex Server : 1.15.0.659

Same here after upgrading to PMS 1.15.0.659 (Previous 1.14.xxx was fine)

Mac OS - 10.13.4
Mac Mini Server late 2012

Same issue here, also running 1.15.0.659 – didn’t happen with the version before.

Exactly the same here. Mac OS + Version ~.659.

For fun, chiming in that this is true for me as well.

I just received reverted to 1.14.1.5488 and auto scan works again. running macos 10.14.3

I forgot how to locate the previous builds. Something about changing a link in the address field.

Could you remind me?

I just went to the main Plex Apps p[age and d/l’d the previous non-plex-pass build. you can turn off plex-pass on the DL page to see that build.

good luck!

Server Version#: 1.15.0.659-9311f93fd
Player Version#: unknown (should be the latest though, as I update often).

I am on a Mac. 10.13.6, and have been using Plex Server (as a Plus user) for many years.
The following problem just started happening - I cannot figure out why, or how to fix it.

IN SETTINGS - I have the following checked…

Scan my library automatically
Your library will be updated automatically when changes to library folders are detected.

And yet, when I add new content to the selected movie or tv folders now, Plex fails to recognize that a chang happened, and so it will not automatically update and show the new content in Plex - unless I tell it to do so manually.

Please, can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Mac mini 2018 macOS 10.14.3 PMS Version 1.15.0.659 automatic scanning also not working.
