Bug or intended? Multiple episodes in single file thats not sequential possible?

Server Version#: 1.29.1.6316
Player Version#: app.plex.tv

Just wondering if there is a way to do this. I have a cartoon show in which the release order doesn’t match the tv db order. For example the tv db is
Show XYZ:
S01E01 Episode ABC
S01E02 Episode DEF
S01E03 Episode GHI
S01E04 Episode JKL

Each file containts 3 episodes, but in a different order:
File1 - S01E01, S01E03, S01E04

I tried naming the file “Show XYZ - S01E01-E03-E04.mp4” and “Show XYZ - S01E01.S01E03.S01E04.mp4” but neither worked. It seems Plex will only accept a range, e.g. S01E01-E03 which would encompass S01E01, S01E02, and S01E03, but no way to do so in a non-sequential manner, is this correct or is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there is no way to handle non-sequential episode numbers within one file.
Your best option is to split the file.

Have you checked TMDB to see if their show order is the same?

OK thank you.

It isn’t the same. the issue is, other seasons line up with tvdb, one season doesn’t. So even if I switched it to tmdb ordering, it would break the other seasons. I guess I just have to split up the files.
