When playing a video that buffers due to bandwidth limitation, the on-screen button (that is in the foreground video player) will not pause the video while buffering. It works again as soon as the video resumes.
Tapping it more than once also doesn’t help. And I really tried hard… 
The pause button in the notifications still works though.
I don’t see a technical hurdle why the inline button shouldn’t work (especially with above’s point in mind), and while only being a mild annoyance, I do hope it gets fixed soon. Even if it’s just to get closer to the feature set (or in this case buglessness if that even is a word) of PMP for Windows
