[BUG] Plex duplicated files within the library

I recently noticed that Plex has generated duplicates of some files that don’t exist. As shown in the screenshot, there’s only one file with this title in my folder, but Plex shows three identical directories and filenames. However, there’s only one delete button. It’s impossible to have three files with the same name in the same folder, and indeed, I only have one file in my folder.

This issue causes Plex to perceive this item as consisting of three parts. The duration of this item has tripled, and during playback, it repeats twice after playing through once before being considered completed. Additionally, clicking the “Mark as Watched” button while continuing to watch doesn’t mark it as watched. However, you can mark it as watched from the show’s page.

I’ve tried emptying the trash, scanning the library files, and refreshing metadata, but none of these solutions have resolved the issue. Optimize Database and Clean Bundles didn’t help either. This issue isn’t limited to just one file. There are 10 episodes in this show that are experiencing the same problem, while the others seem unaffected.

Is there any way to resolve this issue, or is it a bug? I originally had server version 1.32, and I encountered this issue, but it wasn’t resolved. So I upgraded to 1.40, but the problem still persists.

Wow, that is strange. All I could think of is that you might have this folder location as a source for your library 3 times, causing it to see each file 3 times. Does this triplicate bug happen with any other file or show within the same library as this one?

If not, then my guess is wrong, and you can ignore me.

It happens when several scans are running at once.
For instance automatically and periodically, or manually.

The duplication was solved by moving those 10 episodes to another location, removing them from the library and then re-scanning them into the library, but I still think it’s a bug that needs to be fixed, and this time I only found 10 files, and if there are a lot of files and they are scattered across different directories it’s still a pain in the ass to manipulate all of them, and this duplication shouldn’t be happening.
