I just added a new library of Music to Plex and when using Library > Albums view, most of the compilation albums are listed as Clint Mansell. Any idea why?

I have a similar issue where it matches all various artists to a band called Dyse. Not tried to fix it yet so interested to see suggestions.
When I upgraded my music library to the new Plex music, all of my Various Artists albums were “Patrick Doyle” The artist tile displayed “Various” but the bio was for “Patrick Doyle” Sort of like the above screen shot that show an artist tile of Miley Cyrus, but the bio for Nigel Westlake.
Turns out that Plex had scanned and matched the soundtrack album for the movie “Brave” and decided it knew better, and the artist should be Patrick Doyle, and applied it to all of my compilation albums.
The reason for my mismatch was the embedded tags. All of the various artists albums had “Various Artists” as the embedded tag for the album artist except the Brave album, which had “Various” The new music system requires that the Album Artist tag has to be exactly the same for every album in your compilation collection. If one album or track is missing that tag, or it is misspelled, you will get unexpected results.
I’m not sure how Plex works if you are relying on the file structure, and not the embedded metadata. Perhaps @OttoKerner can give you some insight if your library is set up that way.
Did fixing that one album fix the problem?
I’m curious why Plex would care that it was different, instead of just creating a separate category of Various separate from the Various Artist category.
Yes. It was some time ago, so I don’t remember for sure, but I might have had to do a “Refresh Metadata” on the Artist page for Various Artists so the incorrect bio and artwork went away.
Initially, I changed the album artist to “Patrick Doyle” because I was told that was the correct artist for that album, and the scanner was matching it according to the best match at MusicBrainz. According to that advice, I would be able to get all of the other metadata, like album reviews, etc.
Personally, I think the scanner is a little “bossy,” because it was supposed to use the embedded metadata, even if it is wrong. Creating a new artist named “Various” would have been the obvious and logical wrong match/decision - if that makes any sense In fact, what actually happened was, it changed the Artist name from the previous correct name “Various Artists” to “Various” for all of the albums.
I still considered the album more of a Various Artists album, because the tracks were by different artists, even though it was officially a Patrick Doyle album. Changing that one tag to Various Artists placed the album in the section I wanted it in, and I even get the album review for it.
