PMS crashed at 6:29:42.215pm PDT [-0700] when my wife attempted to watch a different OTA Live TV broadcast channel (ie, “change channels”) at a moment when there were no available tuners.
Using the Plex for Apple TV app, my wife was watching the OTA Live TV broadcast of "NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt" while it was being recorded as scheduled from 6:00pm – 6:30pm PDT [-0700]. Three other OTA Live TV broadcast shows or movies were also being recorded. Our HDHomeRun HDFX-4K has only 4 tuners. So, at that moment (and for the next 17 seconds) there were no available tuners.
~17 seconds before the “NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt” ended (ie, while still recording and still using a tuner), my wife attempted to “change channels,” anticipating watching “CBS Evening News With Norah O’Donnell,” which was scheduled to air and be recorded at 6:30pm PDT [-0700] (ie, beginning in ~17 seconds).
PMS “immediately” (from my wife’s perception) crashed without any apparent UI warning, nor notice.
Examining the logs, it appears that PMS crashed upon failing to allocate a tuner channel after heroically attempting to juggle recording priorities unsuccessfully.
If my past and present conclusions are correct, this is not a new bug.
This is not the first time I’ve reported this bug.
Adding insult to injury, the 29 minute and 42 seconds recording of the NBC News was lost to me—which is stupid. (My wife was again yelling at me, “This piece of [dung] isn’t working—again!”, so I could not take the time to attempt recovering the temporary recording before, presumably, PMS idiotically purge it.)
(I have sent Plex staff logs, database, crash report (inc .dmp file), and .plist file.)
