When trying to create a smart playlist using “custom filter” “audio language” “is not” and entering more than one language— this causes movies to be added to the list instead of removed from the list. The “or” statement is added between selected languages but the logic is wrong.
Example: Audio Language is not English returns 73 movies Audio Language is not English or Français returns 752 movies
I am attempting to find all movies that match “unknown” for language so I can fix them.
Example: Audio Language is Unknown
Please add a filter for “Unknown” or “none” or allow entering more than one language in the filter argument to exclude languages that are added.
I think you want to look for movies that have no English audio track AND no French one – don’t you? You can do that using multiple filter criteria (not by adding different languages in the same field).
Just tested it with a MKV file by setting the audio track’s language to und. Filtering by is not English and a 2nd criteria is not German did the job.
I was thinking is not this or this or this was the correct statement since movies may have more than one audio track.
It certainly would be easier to create one rule using “unknown” or “none”. The way it is now would not give the desired result when the catalog has changed. When a movie is added that has a different language Plex adds it to the list of known languages but it’s not added to my “Smart Playlist” so instead of just finding movies with unknown you now have unknown and the newly added language. This would constantly need to be updated which defeats the purpose of a “Smart Playlist”.
What tools did you use to set the language of the track for an MKV, just curious. I use Subler but it doesn’t handle AVI or MKV.
I have been editing the file’s language to what it should be and saving them. They then appear correctly in Plex. However, today I noticed a bunch of files I edited had reverted back to “unknown”. How is this possible? It seems they are being refreshed from stale data somewhere else.
I have been editing the individual streams in the movie file using Subler. There are Video and Audio streams that both show up as “unknown” when opening the file in Subler. I change them to “English” save and exit. Plex then shows them as being English, but then today I see they have been changed back to Unknown. Just wondering what process is reverting those to unknown and why is it making that decision.
Plex doesn’t.
Unless you have maybe changed a different file… do you have some other apps that could have rolled this back / restored it from a backup or something similar?
