I have been using the Plex more than 3 years and I am very happy to use that. But lately I faced a funny (not in a good way) bug. If I watch the movie on the android while using external player (VLC player) the Plex system does not records any log files and these watches does not seen on any statical data.
I do not understand why the Plex server does not recognise this action. More over, how can I know what is played on the my plex server if any movie if any of the user watch over vlc player on the android.
Please kindly let me know how to monitor these actions.
Pretty sure this is a known limitation to using an external player. Think I remember reading it in their support docs.
Using an external player means your not using plex anymore so it won’t log or update watched status. The external player does not update the backend plex server as its external to plex.
Edit: Just checked, the android app itself gives you a warning when you enable the external player. Guess you didn’t fully read the message.
First of all thank you very much for your answer. If I watch the movie without Plex yes you are right . But I chooseand watch the movie over Plex. Means I reach the movie over plex server.
What you explained is like you use bank kart in different bank Machines . it works but there is no Records.
