Hello,
There is an issue with special chars and playlist filters.
For example, if I want to create a playlist with all Céline Dion’s tracks, I take the “Track Title” => contains => Céline Dion
The word “Céline” is not recognize.
It works with artist without special chars in their name…
Can you double-check if you’re using the artist name as it’s stored in your library? I hope this doesn’t make a difference… I remember there’s used to be some hiccups with special chars that have different Unicode representations (Unicode can represent certain characters as the actual special character or a combination of the main letter + what accent etc. is applied to them).
Edit: you were filtering your library by Track Title – not artist name (Artist Title)… so maybe it’s as simple as “Céline Dion” not showing up in a track title while “Hans Zimmer” does?!
So, if I want these tracks too, I have to use the “Track Title” filter, but with “Céline Dion” it does not work.
I have tested with some tracks to rename Céline Dion => Celine Dion and… it works.
That’s the expected behavior as Plex only aggregates the album artists for the artist tier. There’s feature suggestions to also consider individual track artists or have a better handling of tracks/albums with multiple artists.
Yes, but… the feature request for multiple artists is about 10 years
The workaround is to work with track title instead of Artist title.
An another example: if I create a filter with “Emmylou Harris” as the track title, all the tracks are found and there is no French chars in her name… the bug is only with special chars artist names
ok. so your issue is that the track title is actually looking for track artists – however it’s ignoring those track artists with UTF-8 / special characters.
Edit: fingers cross the bugfix isn’t removing the current filtering behavior for good as you seem to depend on it (given the track artist is clearly not the track title )
