Linking iTunes Playlists

Hello, I worked with an employee a couple years ago to optimize linking of iTunes playlists to the plex server to port over things like rating, play count, last played, etc. It took a little plex dancing to make it work, but is a great feature. One small annoyance that never got resolved is that songs with special characters (á ¡ Я Æ ö etc.) in the filename fail to get matched. For older server versions they did get matched, but at some point that broke. My prior solution was to periodically revert to an older version (1.20.1.3252) to match and update all the special character songs. Unfortunately, that solution no longer works so I’m stuck with a portion of songs that will never link for updated unless I decide to remove the special characters in iTunes, which I wont.

I’m sure this isn’t a feature that most people use, but wanted to bring it up again to see if anyone knows why the special character songs fail to link and/or may have found a work around?

Thanks,
Joe

This is exactly the issue I’m having. Especially with a lot of classical music in other languages with special characters/accents, I have a lot of songs/albums in iTunes playlists not importing into the Plex playlists. Everything else imports just fine. I’m hoping someone has a solution for this so that I don’t have to manually add these tracks. And that’s the odd thing: They show up in the Plex music library but just won’t copy over in the playlists.

Refreshing this since it’s driving me nuts and should be fixable since it previously was not a problem. Thanks.
