Can I start to pre-load my library of CDs on my win10 computer?

Can I start to pre-load my CDs on my win10 computer as I start to get my NAS Plex Server set up, and move them to the server later?

If so, what utility and format should I use?

I have not been using PLEX Community very much, so I I put this topic in the wrong place, please let me know.

Thanks!

Do you mean you want to ā€œripā€ your physical CDs, to get digital files?

There are numerous programs out there which can do this.
http://exactaudiocopy.de/ is one of the widely accepted free ones.

The first question you must answer to yourself is:
Do you want to keep the full CD quality
or is it acceptable to you to, to lose some of it, in exchange for smaller storage space requirements?
If you want the full quality, pick FLAC as the storage format.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I want to rip and keep the same CD size.

So I can start using FLAC format to get the cds to my pc and move them to the NAS server later?

Of course.

I have seen on the internet a few different configuration setting for EAC to rip CDs but I don’t want to get this wrong as I start to prepare quality flac files for my Plex server.

Can someone point me to the best configuration options to be used with EAC for Plex?

If your devices/clients have issues with it - convert it to something else (you’ll never hear the difference anyway - most likely):

XR can make it anything you need, in the primary track, while maintaining the original track in another slot, while normalizing the audio, adding a sub track, copying the video track - and it’s got a cup holder.

Eventually you’ll need to ā€˜re-code’ something - start here and adjust as necessary:

JuiceWSA,

I’m not sure but believe you may have two posts confused.

I am ripping audio CDs and fine with using EAC, jut need the best configuration settings.

Well…

If you have music, you may want to try an MP3 file. Your future Plex career might not be infused with Emby/VLC/Other while you settle on a format that’ll actually produce sound.

Carry on…

Use the defaults, but select FLAC as your storage format in the initial setup wizard. They are a great starting point.

Bonus points for owning one of the reference CDs, which can be used to calibrate the drive to extract on sample-exact track markers.

You might want to add a good metadata editor to your software arsenal. The tags that get applied automatically in EAC are not always great for Plex use.
I recommend mp3tag for Windows use.

Is it possible to broadcast my own personal movies or videos that I shot and broadcasted myself on Plex?
