Can Plex write/edit mp3 tags?

I read on Reddit that Plex can’t write tags to mp3 files.
So if e.g. I change the genre for an album, Plex just stores the new data in its database?
Whereas iTunes edits the genre tag on the mp3.
Is this right?

Can it read mood, rating or grouping tags from the mp3?

No. it will only read embedded genre if that is selected in the advanced settings of the music library
