I’m using a pulseeight USB CEC adapter with my HTPC. I’ve downgraded libcec3 to libcec2, and then I ran sudo chmod a+rw /dev/ttyACM0 which fixed one error. So now everything seems to be ok (adapter shows up on boot, and can see it in preferences.) But my remote is still doing nothing.
When I run cec-client, I can see all the button presses coming through. I think CEC support is just broken in PHT. The only time I’ve ever been able to get CEC to work is with the new Plex Media Player on Windows.
Is there a simple fix for this? Do I need to change my libcec version, or maybe adjust some config files for PHT?
Actually now whenever I open PHT and go to the preferences, the video gets all fucked up, and it just gets worse and worse until the whole screen is flickering. So probably some problem with the video driver, or HDMI support. And when I play something, there’s no audio.
Can someone please help me find a Linux distro that just works? I wanted to get away from Windows 8 because it was pretty slow, but Ubuntu was even slower. Lubuntu is nice and fast, but nothing works. I just want to be able to run Plex Home Theater with HDMI CEC. It must be possible. Have you got it working? What distro are you using, and how did you install PHT?
