can`t play TS files

Hi,

I`ve got quite a few *.ts files downloaded from my satellite receiver. I have no problem to play the files on Plex Theater on my MAC but my Apple TV 3 (software version v.6.0) won`t play the video. I can only hear the audio and see the black screen. Anybody any experience with that? solution?

Any other file seems to work ok... please help....

Thank you

I have the same problem with the TS files here, I know the file could be converted.. but I have quite a lot of them and would rather find the solution on PlexConnect / Plex itself.

Anybody any idea how to resolve the issue?

Not sure how PMS handles those files - did you try to force "transcode"?

What are the codecs used, video and audio?

I`ve never tried to force the transcoding, I would have thought that Plex does it itself specially for AppleTV?

This is the format of one of my TS files:

  • Container MPEGTS
  • Video
    • Codec H264
    • Bitrate 5599 kbps
    • Bit Depth 8
    • CABAC 1
    • Chroma Subsampling 4:2:0
    • Color Space yuv
    • Frame Rate 25.000 fps
    • Has Scaling Matrix 0
    • Height 1080
    • Level 4.0
    • Profile main
    • Ref Frames 4
    • Scan Type interlaced
    • Width 1920
    Sound
    • Codec AC3
    • Bitrate 384 kbps
    • Bit Depth 16
    • Bitrate Mode CBR
    • Dialog Norm -27 dB
    • Sampling Rate 48000 Hz
  •

Well there is an ATV profile on the PMS (currently only a generic one for both the ATV2 and ATV3) and some code at the PlexConnect end that determines how a file gets played but these type of TS files are not that common outside of PVR's so it may be that some adjustments need to be made.
