Canal+ Plugin

Hello

First, I want to thank you for this awesome plugin.

I am using Plex 0.9.1.2 and the last version of Canalplus that plex give me and i also installed Perian.

I am new to Mac OS world and i just discovered Plex Media Center that i realy like to use.

My problem is when it play, i get only the audio, for the video a get black screen !!

The others plug-ins i tested are working (Youtube, Cnet, etc).

Can you help me with this ??

I also speak french if my english is not clear.

Thanks

Your problem is probably related to Flash. You’ll run into the same issue if you use any other plugin that uses WebVideo items, which is not the case of the YouTube plugin.

I’m not sure what’s the cause of it, apparently it’s when you have/haven’t upgraded to the latest version. You should take a look at the French board, people had the same problem that you have and solved it by doing something with Flash.

Au fait, il y a un forum français, tu devrais y poster. Enfin, les règles veulent qu’on parle anglais dans ce forum, donc je te réponds en anglais dans l’immédiat.

(Translation : There’s a French board available, you should post there instead. Since the rules say that we should speak English on this board, I’ll answer you in English for now.)

Thanks a lot, it was not working because of Flash 10.1.

I downgraded to 10.0 and now its working.

Did a change in Canal+ web site occur?

I’m still with previous Flash version and now I only have sound, no video

Just checked, it works correctly for me. I’ve got sound and video.

Anyone else having problems?

I’m sorry, it’s Flash again…

Here is the correct link I shall check before I post again : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

Not to blame someone/thing else, I guess firefox insisted so much I probably updated Flash upon its request without thinking of the disastrous consequences!

Guess you’ll just have to find a way to downgrade  .

It’s too bad that the new version of Flash causes so much problems. it would be easier if one could access the video directly through HTTP, but the use of the RTMP protocol prevents that…

I found a way to do away with Flash … you can use the RTMPVideoItem, I PMed you the details …

Actually, as I said in my reply to your PM, the RTMPVideoItem still needs Flash, since the Plex Player is in Flash. It just enables you to not use a Site Configuration and have access to all features (seeking for example) without any hassle.

As far as I know, there is no way for now to completely do away with Flash when using the RTMP protocol, the only way would be to find how to access the videos with the HTTP protocol, but it’s not possible anymore. When Flash finally dies at the hands of HTML 5, then we’ll see, but that’s not happening anytime soon  .

Unless, of course, I am mistaken and Plex supports RTMP natively. Which would be wonderful, but I don’t think that’s the case. I’ll give it a go, you never know.

Sorry I spoke a little too soon without looking at your code …

However there is a way to read RTMP stream in Plex but it may not always work and does not provide seek functions which is kind of a showstopper … (and most of the canal+ streams would work with this solution as per my tests …)

Anyways, the best solution for now is probably to leave your plugin as is, sorry I raised the issue to in the end go to a dead end.

Hi,

(this is a copy of message posted here)

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the partial/complete feedback for reading the shows, just like the blue dot for movies and series?

thanks for this nice plug-in

Unfortunately that is not possible or easy to implement for videos streamed from the web. You’d need to be able to request the server to start streaming at a particular point but very few servers have that capability.

thanks for the quick response!

Ok for the inability to restart at a given point, but what about a simpler status (remembered at plex level by stream name) switching as soon as the user has launched a stream (whatever follows: fully watched or not)?

possibly but that would have to be done in the client hence by the dev team. there is no support for this ATM nor is there any plan for it I don’t think.

Hi,

Don’t know if this topic is dead or not but i’d like some feedback about the Canal+ plug in.

Actually i’m using Plex server on my LG Smart TV 32LS3500 (JAPAN Model), and i just added the Canal plug in to have that video channel and enjoy contents from this channel.

But it seems that the plugin doesnt work properly on this tv.

Error message as following : “This Client app is not supported”, “The app you’re using can’t access this channel. Please make sure you have the latest version”

Of course i have the latest version of the app.

Other video channels added are perfectly working.

Wondering if it’s not zoning related ? Since i’m located in Japan.

It’ll be great if you could provide me some feedback on that.

Thanks in advance.

Sadi

I have exactly the same problem as Dadz since the new version 1.012 :  "This Client app is not supported", "The app you're using can't access this channel. Please make sure you have the latest version"

Try using a different Plex App, it sounds like you're trying to use plex.tv/web (which currently has some issues with certain types of channels).

Thank you Gerk for your answer.

It's true, I try to use this channel with Plex.TV on Samsung TV and it is with this application that I have this problem (with the Web application everything works).

I noted well that Plex.tv meets problems with this channel, and I am going to indicate this bug in the good section of the forum.

Thank you

I would love for this plug in to work but it does not on any of my computers...

I am running the latest version of the okugin on Windows 7, in the web app or the home theater app.. No luck.

I have access to all the listings of the programs but when trying to play any video I have the message "There was a problem playing this item."
